The Book Sale, with proceeds going to assist expectant mothers and pro-life pregnancy centers in Iowa, is scheduled at the same time as Planned Parenthood’s fund raising book sale, to provide book-lovers with an alternative.

We will accept the following:
Books of all kinds, for all ages, Christian or Non-Christian, hard or soft cover, new or used in good condition.
We will also accept:
CD’s, DVDs, VHS tapes and Books on Tape
Record albums (LP’s) 45’s & 78’s
Sheet music and/or music books
Rare and/or Collectable books
Collectable Comic Books
Cookbooks except Microwave type
Home School material
Text Books yr 2004 or newer
Magazines only to include craft, quilting, sewing or cooking types or rare and collectable

- Christian Fiction
- Popular Christian Authors
- Home Schooling
- Children's Classics, such as Nancy Drew, Hardy Boys, Little House on the Prairie, Chronicles of Narnia
- Louis L'Amour westerns
- Current Popular Fiction
- Science Fiction, especially Star Trek and Star Wars
- Handyman books
- Books about the Civil War, Abraham Lincoln
- Books about Ronald Reagan
- Taste of Home annual cookbooks
- Antiquarian (very old and collectible) books
- All DVDs, CDs and Disney videos
- Books on tape
We cannot accept the following:
- Books that are torn, badly stained or water damaged (exception: rare/old/collectable)
- Magazines other than those listed above
- Encyclopedias, unless rare, old and a complete set
- National Geographic Magazine dated after 1950
- Law, Medical, Business, Insurance, Banking, & Real Estate texts, High School or College Texts older than five years
- Religious tracts/pocket book tracts
- Books with content containing graphic language or pictures
Magazines we cannot accept:
- Financial and business magazines
- Weekly News Magazines
- Professional Journals (except music journals)
- Women’s home magazines (eg. Family Circle, Good HouseKeeping)
- New Yorker, Saturday Review, Harpers & Atlantic
- National Geographic’s 1950 or newer
- Home Improvement type magazines
- Book sorters at our warehouse; This need is ongoing and urgent due to the large volume of books we are receiving.
- Workers at the Sale—to set-up, work on sale days, and to tear down book sale
- Volunteers to pick-up books from the elderly and/or handicapped
- Book Drive volunteers with access to a pick-up.
- Six to eight foot tables—donated (roughly used okay, but must be stable)
Donating Antique Books
If you are willing to part with your prized collection of books or records, Christine Dubiel, a professional appraiser, is providing accurate values to collectable books. Donations are tax deductible. The I.R.S. considers her an expert in personal property and she is also a past member of the A.S.A. (American Society of Appraisers), specializing in books. Finally, she is Ab Initio Books, a book publisher. She is offering this service at no charge to IRLC. Contact Christine at: cdbookdm@msn.com
