Iowa Legislature Puts the $750,000 Family Planning Line Item Back in the State Budget

The Legislature ended up putting the new line item for "family planning" back into the state budget, which will give the abortion industry an additional $750,000 on top of the millions they already receive from our taxes. Planned Parenthood lobbied hard for the money and has future plans to increase the funds to help them expand all over Iowa.
On a good note, the Legislature approved a new line item of $200,000.00 for maternity homes, pregnancy centers and adoption agencies. Even though this is egregiously out of balance with the millions the government already funds to the abortion industry, it is a huge step in the right direction. With your help, we can elect pro-life legislators who will commit to increasing these funds that promote life.
We believe the state should show preference for life over abortion, but as things currently stand, the state of Iowa is actually developing the abortion industry through an expansion program being done under the pretext to reduce teen pregnancy and to prevent unintended pregnancy.
As stated by Joan Thompson with the Catholic Conference, "The fact that the pregnancy was unintended does not diminish the humanity of the life that was created. A young life’s “unintended” beginning should not stigmatize it, diminish its value or favor its termination." We couldn't agree more. May we value life and work to preserve it.
